Press release | Avid is proud to announce the launch of the Velsonic phono stage, a new benchmark in analogue replay and the first all-new phono stage from the company since 2012. This milestone underlines Avid’s philosophy of meaningful innovation. Never introducing new models for the sake of change, Velsonic offers a genuine leap in performance.

Avid Velsonic

Superseding the acclaimed Pulsare II and Pellere models, Velsonic elevates both performance and construction to unprecedented levels, setting a new standard for the most discerning audiophiles. Rather than reinventing, it refines and advances Avid’s proven design principles, with every element meticulously reconsidered. Drawing on developments from the Reference Pre Amplifier, Velsonic cascades a number of bespoke components and technologies, contributing to lower noise, greater dynamic expression, and enhanced musical coherence.

The result is a phono stage that reveals more of the recording with natural authority and ease.

True to Avid’s purist approach, Velsonic remains entirely free from noise-inducing digital circuitry and unnecessary features. Its fully analogue, precision-engineered signal path is complemented by greatly expanded control flexibility. A wide range of gain settings allows the phono stage to be precisely aligned with the output of other source components, ensuring consistent musical volume across the system. In addition, an increased number of resistance settings enables far more accurate cartridge matching, allowing each cartridge to be finely tuned for optimal performance.

Conrad Mas commented: “Velsonic reflects everything we stand for at Avid. Only introducing new products when we achieve a genuine leap in performance, refining every aspect of our legacy designs, Velsonic delivers greater transparency, engagement, and brings listeners closer to the music without compromise. Listeners at recent events have already been positive, reinforcing that we’ve achieved something truly special.”
