Press release | By now it is pretty much official, the Ambre is making waves in audio land because of its pristine sound and perfect clocking! As the Ambre has a Raspberry™ inside, which holds the software for, among others, ROON™, by now clients have replaced the SD card allowing the Ambre to run DietPi or using PiCorePlayer to support platforms like Qobuz or Logitech Media Server and others. Does inserting a new SD card void the warranty of the Ambre? No, it does not as long as no modifications are made to the hardware. Do other media platforms have a negative impact on the performance of the Ambre? No, au contraire, it enriches the Ambre and allows for usage with a multitude of media platforms!
From day one, Metrum Acoustics has provided an open platform, allowing our clients to listen to uncompromising pure sound not using filters or corrections. Our NON-oversampling DAC products allow for pure sound, sound as it was intended when recorded by your favorite artists. The Ambre for that matter follows this principle, allowing you to use any supported media platform supported by Raspberry. We at Metrum Acoustics will release our own official version of additional platforms soon, yet feel free to wait for the official release or use your own implementations.
