New CD release from Martin Vatter

25.07.2018

Press release | “This album is an emotional, passionate and profound tribute to my homeland. Yet I do not want to speak just for myself with my music. Every person has a homeland and connects with it very personal memories and feelings. Unfortunately a lot of people cannot live in their homeland or return to it at any time without any danger. The present floods of refugees speak for themselves. With regard to current events, I dedicate my compositions Forced to Flee My Homeland and Your Tears Will Dry to all refugees, who had to or still have to leave their homelands for various reasons.” - Martin Vatter

This recording was made in the legendary MPS-Studio in Villingen with a Bösendorfer Imperial grand piano which sounds wonderful. Amongst others Friedrich Gulda and Oscar Peterson recorded their much acclaimed albums here.

Picture above: recording situation and recording room with the legendary Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand built in 1979 at the MPA-Studio in Villingen.
Microphones used: 4 x Neumann U 87, 3 directly above the hammers and 1 behind, 1 x Neumann SM 69 in the curve, 2 x Bruel & Kjaer 4006 as room microphones.

It was the renowned sound engineer Gerd Puchelt who recorded. Due to the special use of microphones – a combination between microphones positioned very close to the piano strings and microphones placed at a slightly larger distance from the concert grand – this authentic audiophile recording possesses both enormous richness in detail and excellent dynamics - DR12, as well as an airy transparency. The concert grand literally breathes. Take a sound bath!
