New Young DSD DAC from M2Tech

Press release | The Young DSD represents the result of a whole year of careful development, starting from the solid and well-known foundation of previous Young 384/32 DAC. As its name suggests, the Young DSD adds DSD64 and DSD128 to the handling of PCM up to 384kHz. This required a deep redesign, even more so due to the inclusion of more features largely required by the market itself: remote control, volume control, balanced outputs.

 

Volume control, particularly, required a totally different approach to the design of the output analog circuitry: eliminating the classic output buffer-filter used in virtually all DAC and CDP designs around, M2Tech has implemented a passive anti-alias filter and a settable gain output stage (digitally controlled but totally analog in operation), together with an automatic current offset compensation circuit to the DAC outputs which allow the I/V converters to operate more linearly.

As the Young DSD can also be used as a digital preamplifier (thanks to remote and volume control), user can double the output voltage in order to achieve the optimal headroom with every power amplifier.

The new async USB is compliant to USB Audio Class 2.0 and is natively supported (no driver required) by OSX and Linux. A driver for Windows is available for download from M2Tech website. also via USB, firmware upgrade is possible right from user's computer. Moreover, the HID interface is implemented which allows user to control the player running on the computer by the Young DSD remote control.
