Press release | Ortvik, the European design-build studio specializing in bespoke acoustic surfaces, officially announced its entry into the United States market. Making its North American debut at Axpona - Audio Expo North America in Schaumburg, Illinois, Ortvik arrives to redefine the relationship between high-end audio and architectural design.

Represented in the U.S. by Aldo Filippelli and his prestigious Luxury Audio Group, Ortvik joins a world-class portfolio that includes highly regarded marques such as Estelon, Vitus Audio, and Crystal Cable. The partnership defines the new frontier of the U.S. market, advancing beyond conventional acoustic treatments toward a design-build philosophy where the room itself becomes an extension of the audio system.

The room is the instrument
Born from the Central European tradition of Bohemian artistry and refined through years of rigorous foundational work as Ekustik, Ortvik was founded by brothers Petr and David Hortvik. Their approach treats acoustic surfaces—integrated walls, sculptured ceilings, functional art, and acoustic furniture—as high-performance components choreographed to the millimeter.

“The room is not separate from the sound. The room is the instrument,” says Petr Hortvik, Co-founder of Ortvik. “We don’t merely ‘treat’ a space. We orchestrate the environment around the sound. Our goal is to bridge the void between architectural intent and acoustic reality, creating a singular fusion of performance and form for the most discerning listeners.”

A new paradigm: sound as light
While many might see acoustics as a corrective afterthought, Ortvik is championing a mindset shift among the world’s leading architects and designers.

David Hortvik

“No architect worth their salt would design an environment without considering how light transforms a space throughout the day,” explains David Hortvik, Co-founder. “We believe sound deserves that same respect. We want to empower architects and designers to treat acoustics as a first principle of design—as vital as lighting or structural integrity. We are here to lead that change, ensuring acoustic wellbeing is woven into the very DNA of every project from the first sketch.”

A signature palette: bespoke by design
At Axpona, Ortvik showcased its ‘acoustic palette’—a sophisticated selection of precision-engineered systems including the Waveform Diffuser, the new mobile Waveform Tower, the signature Waterdrop Diffuser, as well as the Alignment Absorber and The Trap series. Every surface is analytically modeled and measured to ensure objective, data-proven acoustic performance.

While these ingredients represent the brand’s technical peak, they serve as the foundation for entirely custom commissions. Ortvik operates as a transformative design partner, taking a client’s unique spatial footprint and refined requirements and turning them into one-of-a-kind realizations. Whether it is a private listening room, a bespoke home cinema, or a refined commercial interior, Ortvik utilizes furniture-grade solid hardwoods and high-density recycled PET core to ensure the visual elegance matches the sonic purity.

A strategic partnership for the Americas
The appointment of Luxury Audio Group as the U.S. representative ensures that Ortvik is positioned alongside the most respected names in high-end audio. “Adding Ortvik to our portfolio is a definitive moment for Luxury Audio Group,” states Aldo Filippelli, Founder and President of Luxury Audio Group. “In all my years representing the world’s finest audio marques, I have rarely seen this level of European craftsmanship paired with such profound technical rigor. No one else is doing what Ortvik does—moving beyond panels or wall treatments into the realm of bespoke architectural acoustics. We are bringing a heritage of Bohemian mastery to the U.S., and I am thrilled to introduce this level of acoustic artistry to our network of dealers and enthusiasts.”
